32nd Annual
Unicoi County
Apple Festival

October 2 & 3, 2009

8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both Friday and Saturday

The Unicoi County Apple Festival, consistently named one of the Southeast Tourism Society's Top Twenty Events of the Southeast, will be held October 2 and 3, 2009. Unicoi County is known by many as one of the finest apple growing counties in the Southeast. The Unicoi County Apple Festival began in 1978 as a way to celebrate the local apple crop. The festival is a celebration and presentation of the unique heritage, foods, crafts and culture of the Southern Appalachian region. This tradition continues the first Friday and Saturday of October each year, as more than 100,000 festivalgoers gather each fall for the annual event.

Over 350 craft and food venders from around the country line the festival grounds. Crafts including pottery, quilts, handmade jewery, woodcrafts and candles are among the many items for sale during the event. There are two food courts offering a large selection that should satisfy any tastes. Two stages provide continuous entertainment, and a children's area featuring games and rides, including large inflatable rides. Click here for a complete listing of the 2009 festival activities. (All of the 2009 performances have not been confirmed. Please check the website for updates as performance are confirmed.)

The Blue Ridge Pottery Show and Sale will be held during the festival. The show draws collectors from around the country looking for hard to find pieces and beginning pottery pottery buffs looking to start their collection.
